Ed Harris Scholarship

Ed Harris, former Director of Worship and Music at American Lutheran, was a nationally known composer, performer and music educator, who had a remarkable influence on young people and music.  After his death in 2006, a fund was established to offer music scholarships to youth of grades 7-12 and college age to enable them to take private music lessons or train at institutes and camp.  Two (2) scholarships are awarded each semester with an award of $200 per student paid directly to their private teacher or the organization sponsoring the institute or camp.  Scholarship recipients are then expected to participate in worship or other music ministry on a regular basis, under the direction of the Director of Worship and Music.  College aged recipients would participate based on availability.

Applications are available HERE and in the office.  This is a wonderful opportunity for young musicians to pursue private study at a reduced cost.  If you are interested in applying, please fill out an application and return it to the office no later than September 30, 2015.  In addition, (2) letters of recommendation from your private teacher and your school music director are highly encouraged.  Please contact Kathy Honaker at 672-5333 if you have any questions.
